What We Want is

On February 22, 2020, we launched a fundraising event, What We Want Is______! to fund a Ted Purves Memorial Scholarship to honor Ted Purves' contributions to the fledgling field of social practice through his art, writing, and teaching at CCA. An evening inspired by Ted’s generosity and warmth included a live auction, artwork raffle, speeches and performances, and we raised $65K to support students in Graduate Fine Art who are working in the area of Social Practice. Hundreds of hours were devoted to making this celebratory event successful through the amazing love and support of friends, colleagues and the greater Bay Area arts community. For most of us it was the last in person party we attended before COVID lockdown.
