A Fieldfaring Project

Images of Farming, edited by myvillages.org;  Wapke Feenstra and Antje Schiffers

Published by Jap Sam Books, an independent Dutch publishing house.

Ted and I were asked to write a chapter that explores some of the ideas that arose during the production of Temescal Amity Works around traditions of community labor and the possibility of their translocation to urban communities filtered through our own rural backgrounds.

About the book:

In the 21st century, few topics evoke so many different notions and passions as farmers and agriculture. This book, the product of myvillages.org, an international artist co-operative based in The Netherlands, focuses on connecting rural and urban through wide-ranging art projects honoring traditional agricultural cultures and arts. Founding artists Kathrin Bohm, Wapke Feenstra and  Antje Schiffers all come from agricultural villages, and their goal is to preserve this essential human heritage through art. An engrossing journey through the production of farming-related images as the expression of culture and myth formation, publicity and the sciences, and the fine arts.
